Welcome to The Hem.
Jade Davis-Jones launched The Hem. after working as a bridal seamstress for 5 years and getting to work with hundreds of beautiful brides and high profile clients but feeling like the bridal experience could stand to be less prescribed, more focused on the individual.
Having previously earned a 1st class degree in Fashion Design and prior experience in design and pattern cutting, The Hem. combines a love and knowledge of tailoring, corsetry, structure, drape and couture hand sewing techniques to create modern, unique looks.
Having got married myself in 2024 (and of course making my own bespoke bridal looks) I have 1st hand experience that some elements of wedding planning can feel quite cookie cutter, rinse and repeat. The Hem is a bridal experience that’s connected more to our everyday self expression and creating something beautiful that encapsulates that.
The Process

Fill in the contact form or drop us an email at enquiries@thehem.co.uk with pictures of you in your dress and we can discuss any and all concerns about your looks and receive a price list of services.

Initial consultation
In person, virtual or straight to fittings - whatever suits you.
For more complex alterations or just to put your mind at ease, we offer an initial consultation available from the moment you buy your dress.
Fittings
Most brides have 3 fittings 12, 8 and 3 weeks before the wedding (though this can vary depending on the design).
The 1st fitting will go over any design changes and pinning of your dress. 2nd fitting is what we like to call the WIP fitting, all the sewing is done but the fit will need to be checked before finishing. The final fitting being the try on and collection when we’re all happy with the fit and finish.
We are a mobile service so all fittings will take place in the comfort of your own home! All you need to provide is a clear floor space (and the tunes) and we bring the rest.
Final Fitting
The big one. Dress is done, signed off back in your care - only thing left to do is the actual getting married bit.
