The experience of having your wedding dress made for you is a truly unparalleled one. At The Hem, I am with you every step of the process, from conducting the fittings, designing, pattern drafting and sewing. A true collaboration between bride and designer.
Fully bespoke looks begin with an initial design consultation (virtual or in person), this is when we will discuss the general vibe of your wedding, your own personal style and reference, moodboards and initial sketches. After the design is approved by the bride, the bespoke process begins with a series of toile fittings, or mock ups, to ensure the fit and silhouette is correct ahead of choosing fabrics. You will then have a number of fittings in final fabric, where we will work on the finer details bringing everything together.
The ideal timeline for a bespoke gown is 9-12 months before the wedding, with between 6-10 fittings.
We are a mobile studio, so all fittings will be in the comfort of your own home, designed to fit around your life.
Prices for our bespoke service begin at £1000, however prices are calculated on each client individually based on the materials, craftsmanship and time required for the design.
We also offer a heritage redesign service, perfect for the brides who would like the chance to rewear their Mother or even Grandmothers gown, giving it a 2nd life. Prices for this are available upon request.
